iLounge: you can now sync between multiple computers using an iPod, as long as both are authorized on the same account
Oh hell yes. Now this makes me happy.

The USB ports on my PowerBook are about .25" tall. The Shuffle is .41" tall, but that is roughly half and half clip and player. If we call it .20" of player... the new Shuffle is too small to support a direct USB-->USB port connection.
Now, USB cable that goes mini-B to female might have worked, as those are an 1/8th of an inch wide at the mini-B part (mini-B, BTW, is what most cameras have as their USB connections. Check Linkety (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB) for info)
Anyway, simple fact of the matter is that the Shuffle is now too small for a built-in connector and a port for a mini-B cable may have taken up too much space or just been impractical to include. (I don't believe mini-B can provide power, or enough of it.)

If Apple thought this product was actually a big leap, they wouldn't have to announce it in front of a group of fans. I would have like to see them demo the software at the editors guild or have some editors who have used it.
Im sure it will be a great consumer product, but so far there is nothing to say that it is revolutionary or that it's even a good choice for content creation.
Exactly. Because no professional would be shooting in 4k. That's for soccer moms and trolls.

Random question, but when you download it, it's downloaded as a dmg file, right?
Nope, it's all downloaded, extracted and installed through Steam. Not a DMG in sight.

These ******s are just stupid. Destroying every new gadget that comes out because they are high school dropouts with no income source... I hope they try blending butane tanks next. That would make my day!
Uh, dude these guys are geniuses. Spending $500 in order to get 10 million views on YouTube? Any company would do that in a heartbeat.

In Stockholm and Frankfurt, I hardly see any iPhones. Also, I hardly see any iPads. I do however see a ton of MacBookPros but almost no MacBookAirs.
I find both places very style-centric (Stockholm especially), but also somewhat frugal. I don't think that iPhone will reach as large of a market share in Europe due to the high upfront cost of an iPhone (659€/799€ for 16GB/32GB).
Actually, it's running joke that you can identify an American by iPhone/iPad (aside from the loud inane conversation).
i'm from near frankfurt and i have yet to see a iPad out in the wild ... so much for portable :P but i seen one used at a friends house ^^
i see lots of iPhone's in my class tho, its kinda annoying to have a iPhone by now. we had to do a project for class recently and 4 of 5 out of my group had a iPhone 4 (with 2 of those having shattered screens - but that is another matter)

Everything burns and is flamable at the right temperature.
No. Helium, argon, xeon and other rare gases do not burn (ie be oxidised), whatever the temperature. ;)
But I guess you can play around with their nuclei instead of their electrons.

Simple. They don't have Republicans. They actually give a **** about each other and come together to help each other. In the US- it's every man for himself. Just ask a Libertarian.
Why does Lee continue to bury his head in the sand and ignore the FACTS that conservatives give FAR more money, time, blood to charity than liberals do. They also give a higher percentage of their own wealth to charity. Maybe it's just easier to continue and live a lie that all Republicans are only concerned with themselves even though the evidence is to the contrary. Yep, only communists and socialists care about other people. Only people who think government is the solution to all of our problems care about other people.
Oh what a tangled web we weave.

Hey...
So, sounds good.
Are designating one day as the "big" event. It might be easier to get a good showing one particular day, and leave the other days open as well for people who want to meet.
arn
Are we going to have a MR cheering section for any of the events open for everyone? Like live with David Pogue and Best of show and etc.

So they had it limited intentionally until recently with this update? I don't get it. Why was it limited to 6 until now? It's not like anything was added to the hardware by magical pixies while we slept. It looks like it was intentionally limited to 6 when it could have been 8 the entire time.

Currently, 45% of the electrical power generated in the U.S. is produced by burning coal.
Maybe. But where I'm from, most of our electricity comes from a couple nuclear plants. There's probably a Burnsian CEO arching his fingers and saying, "Excellent" at the prospect of the Volt being a big success. I'd love get one if I could afford the $40K price tag.

"One more thing..." is (and should) only be used when Steve announces something very cool, and which would also be come kind of surprise.
Let's be honest.... the Mac Pro was not a surprise. Ok, the all-Quad config was, but the computer itself was not worth the "One more thing..." entrance, like the intro of the G5 in 2003 was.
Maybe a 42" Cinema Display, or Conroe iMac or Merom MacBook Pro could have been one...

When is Apple going to figure out how to implement software patches instead of forcing people to download a whole copy of the OS for every little update?
They have it figured out. But they certainly won't do it. Too many security implications of leaving any previous stuff behind. Too many previous versions to test and QA against which would slow down how soon we get updates even more. Plus more corruption risks of doing partial updates that could brick some devices (lots of reports on MR here of that happening with some MacOS X updates). Clean installs are almost always safer and more robust for the typical non-computer literate cell phone customer.

I agree that culture plays a part as well.
But seeing as your from Norway, who is also on the good end of that chart, what are your thoughts on the possibility of mass looting there I wonder?

I... don't understand.
I don't get it either. Like I said, all those lovely beers just across the Channel they can import, yet BUDWEISER is the number one selling import? Maybe it's the U.K. version of hipsters being ironic by drinking crappy American beer?
I could only find this article (http://www.thepublican.com/story.asp?storycode=66969) discussing their growth in the UK.

The Japanese are very law abiding. They don't even jaywalk.
:D Sort of off topic but just a few days ago I found myself amused by "jaywalking" in front of some cops in Canary Wharf, knowing that in Los Angeles I most certainly would have been ticketed for that. Small novelties!
On topic, I was surprised and yet not about the lack of looting. Japan just seems to show more solidarity in a crisis than what I am accustomed to. Natural disasters and riots bring out the worst in people, from what I witnessed living in L.A. "oooh, everything is destroyed... lets steal a TV!" Repulsive behaviour.

Design has nothing to do with it. It is a function of availability of parts. If the parts are not being made yet, the phone can't be manufactured. I am hoping Apple is waiting for the second generation LTE chips.
Well yes,..
If the issue is purely the tech just isn't ready then throwing cash at it won't help.....
but Apple has a big horde of Cash so if the issue with the parts is the economic risk of retooling to build them and ramp up production. Then that is something pre-buying maybe able to solve.
